Set-up from wired router to wireless system
Reliability on internet service provider (ISP) depends on the provider. Sometimes we feel it is the computer hardware or software that has something to do with it. As long as you have at least a Pentium 4 and a 512 RAM it should have the sufficient speed to cope up. If you play online games then the video card should be at least 256 to appreciate the graphics and speed. A wireless setup with good PC components should provide satisfactory results. It depends on the proximity to the wireless system base. Distance will affect connectivity on wireless system especially with laptops. It is natural, the farther away from the base connectivity quality suffers.
Sometimes it’s difficult to understand why some wireless setup still needs to be connected to the modem. If you will look closely, the wireless base has practically the same ports and connections as the modem. The wireless broadband systems not dependent on telephone landline are simpler to set up. Positioning of the wi-fi antennae is critical especially in locations where many use the same ISP. The wi-fi antennae benefits most from strong signal when it is closer to the source. Another important consideration aside from distance is if there any structures that block line-of-sight from the source. Signal could be poor or erratic if the wi-fi antenna is surrounded by taller structures.
In choosing a broadband wireless system, choose the ISP that has the closest signal source to your location. If possible also, check if there is no ‘overload’ of users in the vicinity. Too many users sometimes cause internet connection failure or connection dropping frequently. Wi-fi, most of the time, gets signals from cell sites of cellular phones.v
