Advantages and Disadvantages of Residential Wind Power
The growth of the residential wind power is very tremendous. It is one of the fastest growing, and most economical, forms of renewable energy. In every three years, it will grow double. Double of every establishment or residence that uses the residential wind power. Making the residential wind power is very competitive with the energy that comes from coal, oil, nuclear and natural gas. Even how helpful or useful this residential wind power is in saving electric bills, these wind turbines are not always welcome. You know why? Because some of the people find them loud and unsightly. Their height makes them obtrusively visible across large areas, disrupting the appearance of the landscape and sometimes creating local opposition. They are also known to disrupt some electro-magnetic communication signals. In addition, the other people claim that having the residential wind power endanger wildlife, particularly birds it is because of the wind turbines. Other disadvantage of having this is the noise. With careful implanting of the wind turbines, along with use of noise reducing-modifications for the wind turbines however, these issues can be easily addressed. Further, there are new developments, especially in urban wind turbines that are both silent and not an eyesore. Nevertheless, despite of all these negative feedback of having a residential wind power, compared to the other forms of energy, the environmental effects of wind power are relatively minor. Wind power consumes no fuel and emits no air pollution, unlike the fossil fuel sources. Studies show that the number of birds killed by wind turbines is very low compared to the number of those that die as a result of certain other ways of generating electricity and especially of the environmental impacts of using non-clean power sources.
