For frequent business travelers, downtime spent waiting at an airport can be tedious. Travelers now carry smartphones and laptops to remain productive, do research, check emails or simply check in at home. To meet traveler expectations, most of the world’s airline lounges offer Internet, wireless access, photocopiers and color printers.
The PrintSpots mobile printing solution from PrinterOn® enables travelers to easily and securely print documents, emails and web content from their smartphones or laptops to a printer located in an airport lounge. Offering extra value added services like PrintSpots for convenient and simplified printing makes the frequent flyer feel like a VIP, and these featured services can keep valuable frequent flyers returning.
The Mobile Printing Process – How Does it Work?
The PrintSpots mobile printing solution is a service-based system which leverages the cloud computing architecture. Users simply submit documents to the PrintSpots service over the Internet via their smartphone or laptop computer. The secure server which is hosted by PrinterOn then renders the documents and securely delivers them to the PrintSpot-enabled printer of choice where it is then printed after the user types in a secure release code.
Deployment
PrintConnect™ and PrintValet™- Any printer can be PrintSpot-enabled when connected to a PrintConnect. The PrintConnect is a small, “plug-and-print” network device with the PrinterOn software installed on it. It is a cost efficient solution that eliminates the need for a dedicated PC, keyboard and mouse. The PrintValet plugs into the PrintConnect and allows guests to enter a release code to securely release their print jobs.
PC Deployment – Leverage an existing computer at your location. The PrinterOn software can be installed remotely on any networked Windows® PC turning
3 Ways Travelers Can Print to a PrintSpot
From a Smartphone- Simply forward any email message and attachments to the unique email address of the PrintSpot at the location. A reply email will be sent back to them containing a secure release code that they will enter on the keypad at the printer to release the print job.
From a Laptop/PC – Open your browser and type in the URL of the PrintSpots location you wish to use. You will now be on the customized branded portal associated with your particular location. Follow the instructions for uploading your document for printing. A secure release code will be sent or displayed to you that you enter via a keypad at the printer to release your print job.
Using PrintWhere – You may wish to download the free Windows print driver called PrintWhere for printing documents that require a login such as boarding passes, itineraries and statements. Once PrintWhere has been installed, you can search for printers at the location or you can have them “discovered” for you. When the printer you want has been chosen, you simply print from within the application as you normally would.
